The Democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama has launched his own social network called MyBarackObama.com. The site invites supporters to create a profile, blog their campaign experiences, plan and attend events, find other supporters, and help raise funds for the campaign. Obama already has an official presence on Facebook and YouTube.
Online videos seem to be very popular among the presidential candidates this time: Democrat potential candidate Barack Obama has a channel on Brightcove, along with Republican Sam Brownback, while others such as Chris Dodd (Democrat) are using YouTube.
In the age of social networks, sites like YouTube, MySpace, Brightcove etc. allow presidential candidates to reach millions of users, allowing them to connect to people as well as collect fund for their campaign.

MyBarackObama.com: Barack Obama launches social network…
…
If Hillary Clinton gets nominated the presidential race will become a knock-down drag-out fight which energizes the Republican far right and repels the great mass of moderate and independent voters out there who are yearning for change. The result will be four more years of polarized gridlock in Washington no matter whether Hillary wins or McCain wins.
We MUST nominate Barack Obama, who can reach out to those moderate citizens –who can reach acoss the aisle and enact laws that may not delight everyone, but will help to sme measurable degree most Americans, who now are in great need need of both financial and emotional uplift.
Hillary the “fighter” is the gridlock candidate. Obama the diplomat is the can-do candidate. That’s the story of this race in a nutshell.
You may find my post, The Coming Digital Presidency, about how social network technology will transform not just getting elected, but governing, of interest:

In France where i live, Obama has a lot of appeal and if there were opinion polls on the subject of the democratic nomination most people would favour Obama ( Clinton ? We’ve been there before, haven’t we ? )
So i hope you Americans do the right thing by putting Obama forword. After 8 years of
George Bush, it wouldn’t do any harm to have someone who can talk sincerely, truthfully and intelligently.
The world is changing fast.It matters little whether Obama wins or Clinton wins
the next president will be a trendsetter in the sense that so far America has had
no black president or woman president.Either way the win for democrats is going
to be the success of democracy. The individual more than the party is playing a
crucial role this time in the presidential race.Let us hope that that the next
White House occupant will improve the conditions of humanity not only in America
but also in other parts of the world. It is time America shed its Big Brother attitude
and resisted the temptation to show superiority in battle fields.
