imageIt seems that despite the announcements made by various companies of their very own tablets such as the Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab and iPad 2, Asus was not taken back as it is likewise in the process of preparing the launch of its very own android tablet to compete with these products.

For the past few months, the web world of gadgets had been going crazy about the newly released tablets. Silently and away from publicity, a well-known company is busy with its competing tablet which has been said to introduce great features.

Just recently, ASUS revealed its intention to shock the market with a tablet PC featuring a 4-Core Processor, meaning four (4) processors that are to work simultaneously and way better than the newly launched tablets (Xoom or IPad2) which are only armed with a dual-core processor.

The CEO of ASUS revealed to the reporters during the CeBIT 2011 held in Germany that the company is in fact working on a new Quad core tablet PC. With this revelation, it had been announced that the CPU will be NVIDIA (codename Kal- El) or otherwise known as ‘Superman’ which was also presented by NVIDIA a couple of months ago. If this is true, then the expected performance of the tablet will be five (5) times the performance of the Tegra 2 processor. The capabilities of ‘Superman’ will enable tablets to display pictures with better quality and can even handle full HD videos, which is something that can even beat desktop processors.

Another revelation made by ASUS’ CEO is the capability of their new tablet PC to display Three-Dimension or 3D. With the horsepower that the Kal-El processor has, the 3D feature can be easily managed because such processor has the ability to draw each and every element found on-screen twice. Whether it would work like the 3D televisions with glasses or whether it would work internally just like LG’s G-Slate remains a question.

Further details such as the release date and its intended price have been kept secret from the public but according to experts, this device will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and will likewise include a SSD memory.

It can be remembered that ASUS released its first tablet, the Eee Pad 121, just last January 2010. It came out in two versions, the EP101 TC with 10-inch screen and the EP121 with a 12-inch screen, both running Windows 7. These two versions were stylishly with an aluminum-shelled touchscreen and a battery life of up to 10 hours. With these features, the company earned higher sales from the Eee Pad 121 which is something that was not expected by ASUS’ executives.

The question now lies as to whether ASUS will be able to deliver a tablet and gain market share from the already established IPad or the other newcomers (Xoom, Galaxy Tab 10, Htc Flyer and LG G Slate). The company believes that they will become the second largest tablet player and gather at least five percent of the market.  We’ll just have to wait and see.
