TweetDeck v0.30 connects Twitter, Facebook and MySpace

tweetdeck

The new version of TweetDeck (v0.30) has added MySpace and Facebook into its pack of Twitter powered features.

Many users swear by TweetDeck’s groups which allow them to organize their Twitter stream into bite size chunks. The same concept has been applied to Facebook too. TweetDeck users can now organize their friends on Facebook into smaller groups, view photos, videos, links, wall posts and more in TweetDeck. Just a few clicks, and you can write on your Facebook wall, comment and make update Pages directly from TweetDeck.

Gatineau: Microsoft’s Reply to Google Analytics?

image Based on a technology acquired by DeepMetrix in 2006, Microsoft is testing a new free website analytics tool, codenamed Gatineau. It is most likely a direct competitor to Google Analytics.

(Picture taken from Microsoft ‘Gatineau’ sneak peek)

Here is a video presentation from Ian Thomas (at OX2 Web Analytics Day Brussels, Sept 14, 2007) giving a sneak peak into Gatineau:

The tool will be closely tied with Microsoft AdCenter. Some of the supported features are:

  • Demographics Data integration
  • Performance tracking of AdCenter keywords
  • Track multiple sites through a single interface
  • Integration with Windows Live ID
  • Permission based control on reports

You can register for tool here: http://gatineau.adcenter.microsoft.com/gatineau/index.aspx

I tried to register to use it but could not login (was always redirected back tot he login page). Probably it is still in beta, as the beta invite page is still available.

Gatineau Finally Revealed With Screenshots article shows you few screen shots from the tool.

We do not have enough details on the tool and would be able to comment more when we see the tool live, so let us wait.

Yahoo Shopping Integration into Facebook

image

No need to visit Yahoo Shopping site for your social shopping needs. Now you can do it right from Facebook. Yes, Yahoo Shopping has been integrated into Facebook in the form of an application titled “Favorite Things“.

The app allows you to send virtual gifts to your friends, add to your favorites, monitor your friends favorite things, search for products, share products you like, and obviously see gifts send from your friends.

Yahoo Shopping: Favorite Things

They should integrate the rating tool which they have on Yahoo Shopping inside this application. I am sure they will push more features into this as they go along enhancing it.

http://www.smartpagerank.com/ is a web site which allows you to enter the URL of any domain and tells you about the PageRank and also keeps track of any changes to the PageRank of that page. It shows host of other useful information like:

  • Estimated value of your site
  • PageRank from multiple data centers
  • Backlinks
  • Alexa Ranking
  • DMOZ links
  • Thumbnail of the site

The good thing is that you can enter your email and it will monitor your page and inform you if the PageRank changes.

Even though it is still in beta, it is a good service to know about changes in your PageRank automatically.

image Beta 2 version of Visual Studio 2008 is out and can be downloaded for free from Microsoft’s Visual Studio Developer Center. Since this is a prerelease software, you are not advised to install it on your primary development machine as it might break things.

Microsoft is even providing links to VPC images for the Visual Studio Team System 2008 Beta 2. you will need Virtual PC or Virtual Server to run these images. You can download the Microsoft Virtual PC for free from here.

As per Microsoft:

Visual Studio 2008 is a unified toolset that enables developers and development teams to build great applications on the Microsoft platform. Support for Windows Vista and the Microsoft Office system development assist developers in building compelling rich client applications. Now, with included support for ASP.NET AJAX and the Silverlight Add-in for Visual Studio 2008, developers can also build a spectrum of rich interactive applications for the Web. As the Microsoft platform further increases in capabilities through the delivery of Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008 will continue to be the single environment that developers and development teams need to be successful.

Sounds like development will be a lot more fun with this tool.

Send Google Maps Business Listing Directly To The Car

Google maps is providing another level of interaction between local businesses and consumers. Not only can you list businesses on Google maps but now you can even connect to those businesses from anywhere.

Google map users can send a business listing on Google Maps Deutschland directly to cars equipped with BMW Assist. This saves the driver the pain of writing down the address and re-entering it. The driver can set the address received as the destination for the in-car navigation system.

The users can also call the businesses from within the car. You click the “call” link next to the phone number of the local business you found on Google maps, enter your phone number and click “Connect For Free”. Google calls your phone number and connects you automatically to that local business. After you have entered your phone number once, it can store it so you do not have to enter it again.
