Interesting Super Bowl XLI Commercials Statistics

Using the data from my previous post Most Viewed and Most Discussed Super Bowl XLI Commercials, I did some analysis and present some figures here:

  • Bud Light: Company with the most number of advertisements views(363,792 Views for 7 Ads) followed closely by Pizza Hut (360,021 Views for 1 Ad)
  • Snickers: Company whose ad(s) general the most amount of discussion (86 Comments for 1 Ad) followed by Bud Light (75 Comments for 7 Ads)
  • Bud Light: Company with the most number of ads in the popular super bowl ads (7 Ads)
  • General Motors: Company with most number of advertisement views among all auto companies (111,036 Views for 4 Ads). It was 8th overall among all companies.
  • Sprint: Company with the most number of views among all wireless carriers (30,167 Views for 1 Ad). It was 19th overall among all companies.

Most Viewed and Most Discussed Super Bowl XLI Commercials

When I did a Google search for “super bowl advertisements” or any related keywords, the iFilm site came up pretty consistently. So, I decided to use it as “The” site Super Bowl fans would visit to see the advertisements. I used the “views” and “comments” attached with each advertisements as my ranking criteria (”views” : most viewed and “comments”: most discussed).

I created an excel file with “Number of Views” and “Number of Comments” recorded against each of the 76 advertisements. I took a snapshot of the data at around 2:30 PM on Feb 5th, 2007 EST and the rankings have been calculated based on that.

Top 10 Most Viewed Super Bowl XLI Advertisements

1 Pizza Hut: Cheesy Bites Jessica Simpson (Jessica Simpson glides down the red carpet, all for the tasty Cheesy Bites pizza): 360,021 Views
2 Snickers: Kiss (There’s nothing more sensual than sharing a sweet, delicious Snickers with your best friend): 287,877 Views
3 NFL: Chad Johnson’s Super Bowl Party (Martha Stewart, Janet Reno, Jimmy Fallon and David Beckham all gather together for a Super Bowl bash): 152,114 Views
4 Blockbuster: Mouse(The Blockbuster rabbit and gerbil are back, but they need a little help learning how to use a mouse): 144,275 Views
5 CareerBuilder: Office Jungle Fight(The office turns into Lord of the Flies when you’re fighting for a promotion): 132,801 Views
6 Coca-Cola: Happiness Factory(So just what happens when you put your money inside of the vending machine?): 103,091 Views
